This April, Hada Labo has a new launch on its Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk. Though the name of the product may be long, it basically tells you what this product is all about and what it contains.
Hada Labo has a long history that goes back to 100 years ago. For those who are familiar with the brand Mentholatum, Hada Labo skin care line is the result of the joint development effort between The Mentholatum Co. and Rohto Pharmaceuticals Co. to make a good quality skin care product, backed up by excellent technology. These big names are are renowned for their research and development of quality and safe products, continuously creating satisfaction and happiness to the consumers.
Previously I had done a review on Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming lotion and it was a great product! And when I received news that Hada Labo is sponsoring me another product - a sunscreen + skin care product at that! - I was very excited about it.
- UV Protection
This Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UVMilk has a SPF of 50PA +++ where users can be assured of a high, broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB. It is actually a chemical sunscreen! So what exactly do terms like broad spectrum and chemical sunscreen means?
Chemical sunscreens are UV filters that form a thin, protective film on the surface of the skin and absorb the UV radiation before it penetrates the skin. Whereas for broad spectrum, it indicates that a product shields against UVA as well as UVB. - These are actually excerpts from my previous post where I have done up a detailed blogpost on sun rays, sun screens and sunblocks!
If you check their ingredients list, they actually contains FDA approved sunscreens ingredients like zinc oxide! Zinc oxide is an ingredient that covers you protection from UVA and UVB rays!
Checking out the ingredient list of this product alone has greatly impressed me because not many products (and not even my usual sunscreen) contains zinc oxide - a ingredient that is widely recommended to have for UVA protection and not all sunscreens provides UVA protection!
And in my opinion, it is not really about the high SPF factor of the product, but it is suitable to be applied on my face, neck and body. Most of my sunscreens are not suitable to be applied to face and it actually saves me the trouble of changing sunscreens - BB cream for my face and one for my body - when I'm out in the sun.
Like other products in the brand, Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk reaches deep into the skin to moisturize the skin with three types of Hyaluronic Acid. It locks in moisture for a soft, supple and radiant skin all day.
If you have taken notice, certain Hada Labo products have Hyaluronic Acid and some have Super Hyaluronic Acid. 1gm of Hyaluronic Acid is able to hold up to 6 litres of water. Super Hyaluronic Acid has double the capacity of Hyaluronic Acid, providing your skin with more moisture retention ability.
- Make Up Base
This product can also be used as a make up base, where it gives you a smoother skin upon applying. It has a light, water like texture makes it easy for an even application, and is quickly absorbed without stickiness. The UV milk is also transparent, so there will be no worries about leaving white residues behind.
And this is how I will fit it into my skincare routine:
Remove - Cleanse - Tone - Moisturize - Sunblock - Make Up Base
I usually put on some moisturizer before I'll apply sunblock and my BB cream as a make up base. So with this Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk it would give me additional hydration effects while using it as a sunblock and make up base - rolled into one. And apply BB cream for some blemish coverage and the rest of my make up products thereafter.
As I usually put on moisturizer before I'll apply sunblock, personally I feel there isn't a tangible difference after I have pre-applied a moisturizer.
Hence I did try on both of my hands, one with Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk and one without! The side where it was applied has a very soothing sensation where minutes later I could actually feel the difference of my skin. The side which has the UV milk applied feels smoother and more.. supple.
For the application on my face, it does not have any scent but it did leave a little bit of a sticky feeling though. On a scale of 10 maybe it would fall around 3. Nonetheless, it is the lightest among my other sunscreen products. I also do like the fact that is very watery so that I do not have to put in a lot of effort to apply it all over my face.
Other than that, I've also mentioned earlier that the best part of this product is that it's suitable on the face, neck and body and it saves me the trouble of changing sunscreens - moreover it gives you hydration while providing you protection from both the sun's UVA and UVB rays.
To top off the list, the UV milk is gentle on skin, as it is free of artificial ingredients such as fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant that may burden the skin. This UV milk also keeps the skin’s pH balanced, and is rigorously tested for low skin irritation.
