Make of Red

COLORS OF THE LIPS.  Tried doing a red lips look for the first time yesterday and I must say I look so different from my usual self. The wonders a shade of red on your lips can do for you. And till now I'm still looking back and forth from the pictures questioning myself if I looked fine in this color. (?!)

So yesterday night, I posted the picture above on twitter asking for opinions. My cousin said the shape could be improved while another said the color can be improved (and that I looked really mature). Haha thank you so much! I really appreciate the advices.

I then asked boyfriend for his opinion and he commented that he liked the first picture best; That it shows character - which is "very rare" as I quote from him hahaha. During the times he takes my outfit photos, he has also been encouraging me to show more character but I will just end up bursting into fits of laughter lol!

I must say it's a pretty refreshing change from my usual nude or even chapped lips. It's not that I dislike putting them on, but it's more of the condition of my chronic dry lips. They peel almost everyday and it's not a pretty sight when you've got pretty colors on. Not to mention they are very sensitive and I have a hard hard hard time finding a lipstick that works well on my lips. When I tried on several other brands in the past, somehow or rather the lipstick will sort of "induce" peeling on my lips and I end up picking at them in less than a hour's time.

Used a lip liner and filled in the color using a lipstick brush. I have a disappearing lip line due to my lip's condition, therefore it's always a tricky task to draw and define the shape. Although I do know a good trick to better define the shape is the use of concealers, I'm still pretty apprehensive about them as I don't wish to risk getting another lip allergy again. Ahhh.

Anyway, for this lip color I mixed 2 colors from L'oreal Color Riche's lipstick series. Perfect Red (377) as the base color and Sensual Rose (379). I've thought that an intense shade of red might be a bit old-looking.. Experimented it with Sensual Rose and I was really happy both colors resulted in more of a coral shade! Took this chance to show you girls my newly bought beanie from Cotton On too.

Let me know if you have any good tips or tricks to share on the application or red lipstick colors! And hope you'll like the rest of the pictures.

  13. This colour looks great on you! I also have really dry lips so I tend to apply a layer of lip gloss afterwards whenever I use lipstick, and it actually helps quite a lot! However, I have pretty full lips and don't want them to look all glossy, I tend to avoid that combo. Instead, most of the time I use lip stains. They're great because they've got great pigmentation, last long(won't have to worry about colour disappearing after you have eaten something, for instance) and best of all, don't make your lips dry! You should definitely try those out :D!
